STORIES about vampires Moravian and Hungarian

G. von Fassimont, Counsellor graph Fan-Bara, told me the following story. At a time when he was in the case of Prince Karna, Bishop Olmoyutskogo and Osnabrueck, was sent to the Duke of Lorraine Leopold I of Moravia, there always floated a rumor that in this country are very often seen that people who have died some time ago, went into a meeting and sat silently at the table. If they nod someone of those present, that in a few days will certainly die. For authenticity, said von Fassimontu vouched many individuals and among others an old priest, who, as he said himself, not once in his lifetime has witnessed such incidents. Bishops and priests of this country asked for advice in this matter to Rome. But there did not answer, considering all this empty ravings and the product of fantasy. Finally came the idea to dig up the corpses of those people who were, to burn them, etc. This means freed from the terrible ghosts, which since that time has appeared much less frequently. All this passed priest.

With regard to such phenomena had been written a short essay entitled: "Magia posthuma", printed in Olmutz in 1706. This work was written by Karl Ferdinand von Schertz and dedicated to Charles Lorraine, Bishop Olmyutskomu and Osnabrueck. The author of the book leads, among other things, such a fact. In some villages, one woman died, according to the commission over its required ritual of the church she was buried. Four years after her burial, villagers heard a big noise, and many have seen a ghost, who was then in human form, in the form of dogs and tormented people choked their throats and weighed in the stomach. The agony was horrible, so test them grew thin and weakens. Ghost attacked even on animals and almost killing them, sometimes connected them with each other tails. A terrible roar, which then made the animals, clearly let us know what a pain it caused them. The horses grew thin like crazy ride in the back and finally with the foaming at the mouth, as if after the long ambulance ride, disappeared. These disasters in the country and continued for several months. Finally, residents who wrote on the author, came to the idea that disasters are those referred to women, and dug and burned it, as they did with the corpses of the dead, who were returning. The author called the book cites many such examples, and tells about the evil which from this place.

The author refers to some other writers, which confirm what he said about the subject. Ghosts, he says, were particularly frequent in the mountains Shlezvigskih and Moravian. Did you see them day and night, noticed as belonging to them moving from place to place, although no one was concerned. The only remedy against these ghosts lay in the fact that they cut off their heads.
The thing with being legally: to present evidence, examine the corpse was dug, not whether there are there signs by which one could say that it is precisely that is the vampire that had been bothering people. Signs of these were: the mobility of members, liquid blood, the lack of damage in the body. If these symptoms are found, the corpse immediately issued for the burning of the executioner. Sometimes, after three or four days after such operations over the corpse, a ghost is again. On this basis, the burial suspects postponed for a period of six to seven weeks. If they are not rotted and their stay soft and fluid, like a living, they were burned in this case. They say that the members of their move, even though no one touched them, and not far from Olmutz, the author claims to have seen a ghost, throwing rocks and severely disturbed people.
